Mexican Riviera (Cancun Mexico Hotels, Playa Del Carmen and surrounds)

When people talk about a holiday to Cancun & the Mexican Riviera it conjures images of Spring Break, huge hotels packed with holidaymakers and partying all night. Whilst this is true and most hotels cater for this, there are a few select Cancun Mexico hotels for the more discerning traveler. These allow you to explore the amazing ruins and relax in hotels that offer world class service and luxury.

Viceroy Riviera Maya

First up we have the Viceroy Riviera Maya in Playa Del Carmen. Already away from the main bustle of Cancun, this luxury hotel consists of just 41 exclusive villas. The lead-in villa consists of 1000 square feet space, Egyptian cotton, an outdoor rain shower and your own private plunge pool. Moving up to the Beachfront Villas, you wake up to a panoramic ocean view and direct access to the beach. If you leave something in your room, don’t worry about moving; your butler will be happy to retrieve them for you or assist in any way.

Hotel Esencia

Next, a totally different property that coins the term subtle luxury. Hotel Esencia offers a very different luxury service, you are never hounded by staff yet they are always there when you need them. A small property, where you are not just a guest, your own personal experiences are tailor made to suit your needs.  The hotel itself was built as Casa Grande for a wealthy duchess to relax and entertain her guests in. In a prime location, on one of the most pristine, beautiful beaches on the coast.

Not only does this diamond find look after adults, they have great facilities for children too. This allows you to have a family holiday in Mexico without being surrounded by countless other families. If you want to get away from it all this is the place for you!

Belmond Maroma Resort and Spa

Last up is one of my favourite chains (ever since visiting the Belmond das Cataratas at Iguassu Falls) who have put their own unique stamp on the Mexican Riviera with Belmond Maroma Resort and Spa.  This luxury Mexican resort is again family friendly (plus you can even bring your family pet, for a small charge of course.) With just 63 rooms you can be assured of the service this brand offers. It’s also great if you want to be a little more active – with a decent gym, personal trainers, water sports, tennis courts, cave diving and even a complimentary bike tour each day.

Once you have sampled the fine food and you need a fix of Mexico’s finest you just need to head over to Freddy’s Tequila bar within the hotel and why not have a $350 shot of tequila!
