You know you’re in for something truly special when you come to stay here.
We arrived in our private transfer to an understated entrance. Upon arrival, an immaculately uniformed gentleman with a warm smile greeted us. As we drove down the manicured path, the warm glow of the hotels reception welcomed us. The iced rum punch I received went down rather well too! I could hear the waves lapping the beach and in our own time, we were whisked off in their little golf buggies to one of the privately-owned villas.
Round Hill resides on a 110-acre peninsular. The resort has 27 perfectly scattered villas. Now, each villa has its very own character, decorated in the owner’s personal choice. Yet all exude an understated luxury, but their individuality means that there really is something to suit the taste of every guest. The staff here will do their up most to cater to your preference. But when we stopped outside the entrance to Villa 20, I thought that we had arrived at an entrance to another hotel all together as we marvelled at the incredible two-story foyer in front of us!
Along with being the largest villa in resort, Villa 20 is part of Round Hill’s Premium Luxury Villa range. It features 6 bedrooms; a beautiful bar; a dining room that would comfortably seat 14 guests; a huge infinity pool and just the most amazing staff. As standard in a Premium Luxury Villa, the bedrooms feature plush linens and spacious ensuite bathrooms. My shower cubical in Suite 83A was larger than my entire bathroom at home! The villa has many spots throughout to unwind, read a book or simply enjoy a freshly brewed Blue Mountain coffee. I could have easily whiled away the hours just absorbing the view of the mountains of Hanover which surround this incredible haven just west of Montego Bay. Within an hour of being here, I was undoubtedly relaxed.

Round Hill really does cater for everyone from large groups of friends, newly-weds celebrating their honeymoon or multi-generational families. Along with the option of a villa, the resort has 36 luxurious Oceanfront Guestrooms designed by Ralph Lauren. Located at the very forefront of the property, each room features either access to private patios or magnificent louvered windows that fold back to reveal picture perfect views of the Caribbean Sea. With the option of guaranteed interconnecting rooms, parents can place a reservation with absolute peace of mind. Their children will be sleeping well just next door after a fun packed day at the Pineapple Kids Club.

As a huge foodie, dining was a massive part of my experience at Round Hill Resort & Villas. For breakfast we opted for in-villa dining. You can pre-order what you would like for the following morning and the time that you would like it ready for. Trust me when I say that you will not have tasted any pineapple as delicious as what Carmen, the house cook, will serve up for you! From beautifully presented poached eggs to the traditional Jamaican breakfast of Ackee & Saltfish with Fried Dumplings, everything that was presented to us did not go to waste.
You could easily stay in your villa for the duration of your time at Round Hill with the choice of in-villa dining. However, I would have to strongly urge you to try their world-class Chef Martin Maginley’s tasting menu. Jamaica’s finest and freshest ingredients that are grown onsite at their organic vegetable garden are showcased. This is something not to be missed! The choice of three restaurants offer a la carte International and Jamaican cuisine. Dining here will take you on a worldly culinary experience. Evening entertainment consists of calypso rhythms under a canopy of lights surrounded by tropical foliage. Just incredible!
You unquestionably have the option for complete tranquillity or to get stuck in with all that is on offer. There is the resort infinity pool if you decide to venture from your private pool at your villa; five tennis courts, jogging path and fitness centre; yoga pavilion, full service spa, and beauty salon featuring Elemis products; nature walks, tours and excursions; the Pineapple Room lounge with flat screen televisions and card tables.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently bought this property into the public eye as they stayed here for their friend’s wedding back in March 2017. But as you’re passing (and I’m sure stopping) at the bar beside the Seaside Terrace, take in the deep history that the Round Hill has by spotting more than a few famous faces that don the walls. You may even find 007 to a president or two – this place really is of another calibre.
Every moment spent here was an absolute dream. From watching the sun rise from my panoramic balcony to hitting the sheets, listening to the sounds of the wildlife making its way through the wooden blinds. This stunning property emulates a truly relaxed feel. The clear pride that the attentive and personable staff have for what they do honestly leaves a lasting impression. A quick flick through the Guest Book will show how these incredible people impact their guests’ stay!
