The man-made island of Sentosa, The State of Fun, is Asia’s leading leisure destination. It is home to an array of themed attractions, golden sandy beaches, resorts and hotels, world-renowned golf courses, a deep-water yachting marina and luxurious residences. On the east of the island is Sentosa Cove, an exclusive oceanfront with homes, restaurants, retail and speciality shops. The island is also home to Sentosa Golf Club and its two acclaimed golf courses.
Getting to Sentosa Island from mainland Singapore is relatively straight forward. There are a few different options that will get you to the island.
Getting a taxi from the Marina Bay area to Sentosa Island takes less than 20 minutes providing there isn’t much traffic and will cost around $15 Singapore Dollars each way. However, when traffic is bad getting onto the island, a taxi is not always the quickest and cheapest mode of transport.
The Sentosa Express is a monorail that runs from mainland Singapore at Vivocity and stops off at three different points on Sentosa, Waterfront Station, Imbiah Station and Beach Station. This is probably the cheapest option at around $4 Singapore Dollars per person for island admission. The monorail also runs every 4-8 minutes from 7am to 10pm, with extended hours Friday to Sunday.
The most popular mode of transport would be the Singapore Cable Car. You can get this from two locations on Singapore’s mainland, Faber Peak at Mount Faber or HarbourFront Tower Two. The cable car will take you straight into the heart of the island. It is not one of the cheapest ways to get onto the island but you pay for the experience. Admission for the Mount Faber Line is $29 Singapore Dollars per Adult and $18 Singapore Dollars per Child, this includes entry into Sentosa.
